Characters

Latoya Robinson

Age: 14

Birthday: September 4

Favorite Food: BBQ chicken pizza

Favorite Animal: Dragons

Likes: Marching band, motorcycles, walking in wooded trails

Dislikes: Peer pressure, glitter, rats

The cool thing about her: She’s sweet and fun-loving, the kind of girl who can’t stop talking about the things that take up every room in her mind: retelling stories of wacky things she and her bandmates have been up to and going in deep on analyses of her favorite dragon characters in stories.

But: The guilt and self-hatred of being a former bully continuously haunts her, and she doesn’t know if there’s ever enough she can do to make up for being the person she was.

CJ Watkins

Age: 17 (forever)

Birthday: July 7

Favorite Food: Coffee anything

Favorite Animal: Foxes

Likes: Trading card games, 2000s pop music, pranking others, the number 7

Dislikes: Current pop music, slow internet speed/no wifi, the number 4

The cool thing about him: He looks like little more than a class-skipping senior who fritters his time away on playing games and generally making the IT department at Friendlydale High miserable with his repeated hacking into the school system. But he’s really a ghost, a class of 2007 ghost to be exact. And he will never stop talking about how his class was the greatest class to ever grace Friendlydale High School.

But: He tries to hide the pain and anger, but can’t figure out why he’s unable to move onto the afterlife, and he doesn’t know whether or not he’ll ever find the spirit of his late mother.

Reina Hanafi

Age: 14

Birthday: February 29

Favorite Food: Her grandma’s lamb shawarma and homemade orange spice tea

Favorite Animal: Ducks, geese and swans

Likes: Teatime with her grandma, writing fanfiction, rainy days, hiking

Dislikes: Loud and chaotic places, being overlooked or misunderstood

The cool thing about her: She has always been the kid who notices the details that everyone else tends to overlook. The way the light changes with the seasons; which plants and bugs the ducks at the Friendlydale park pond prefer; those supporting characters in a movie that no one remembers the names of, but she’s written out elaborate fanfiction for each one.

But: She’s a little clumsy and unsure of herself and takes it as a personal failure if she’s ineffectual at helping others, or worse, ends up getting in the way.

Terrance Thompson and Edgar

Age: 14

Birthday: October 23

Favorite Food: Asian cuisine, particularly pho and red-bean based desserts

Favorite Animal: Crows

Likes: Anime, art and making comics, cosplay, cooking

Dislikes: Bullies, crassness, unicorn-themed food

The cool thing about him: Like the crows he hangs around, he’s quiet, observant, and will reward you for being his friend (sometimes you’ll find a sketch of your favorite character waiting on your desk before class). And, like the crows, if you ever try to hurt him or his friends, he might just work out a pact with Edgar and his buddies to pick you up and carry you away.

But: He struggles with perfectionism with his art and becomes deeply discouraged anytime his work is heckled, ignored, or passed over.

Chad Wallace

Age: 15

Birthday: June 25

Favorite Food: Anything spicy

Favorite Animal: Dogs, dogs, dogs!

Likes: Collecting and playing card games, football, learning about history

Dislikes: Being last, salt on desserts, missing out on the latest set release for his favorite card game

The cool thing about him: He enjoys the simple pleasures in life: playing with his dog, Sassy, chowing down on Friendlydale High’s Hot Chicken Wednesdays (they’re surprisingly good!) and hanging with Bridge during league nights at the card shop.

But: He’s a brilliant young man, but most everyone treats him like a buffoon because of the dumb jock stereotype and his habit of becoming emotional when things don’t go his way.

Bridge Alvarez

Age: 14

Birthday: May 8

Favorite Food: Snacks and energy drinks

Favorite Animal: Frogs

Likes: All forms of boarding (skate, snow, surf, etc.), programming and hacking, any kind of game

Dislikes: Traditions and customs that feel irrelevant, forced-upon commitments

The cool thing about her: She’s the kind of person who doesn’t mind moving with the current of life just as long as she’s wading along on one of her favorite boards. She’d rather spend less time sweating over things she has no control over (like what you think of her) and more time on things that matter to her like her coding projects.

But: She doesn’t take very good care of herself and will forgo basic needs like sleep and eating healthy in order to level up her skills.
